Are You Embarrassed by Your "Bad" Grammar? Is Your Lack of Confidence in Your Grammar Skills Limiting Your Career Options? Beat
the
Grammar Police at Their Own Game! Tame the Grrrs and Discover How YOUR Language Works from the Inside Out. From the desk of Elisabeth Kuhn, Ph.D.: Dear Friend: If even the word "Grammar" makes you cringe, if you've been embarrassed by your "bad" grammar, and if you believe that your lack of skills in that area have been holding you back socially and/or professionally, I want to help you. Chances are, you worked hard at school, but you never quite seemed to get it right. Maybe they didn't speak "Standard English" at your home. Maybe you're an ESL speaker. Maybe grammar just wasn't your thing. It doesn't really matter. The fact is, you're still a bit traumatized by the aftermath of your old teachers' cruelty or ignorance. And you sometimes wish you had a better grasp on the technical aspects of language. Maybe you want to write more effectively It used to be that people had secretaries, but nowadays, everybody has to write. More and more job interviews include writing tests. Even the U.S. Marshals Service requires essays as part of its qualification procedures. And you're not so sure you'd pass that particular hurdle. Even if you have someone else do your writing for you -- how can you tell how good it really is. And then, it's not just about being "correct" either. You want your writing to be as effective as possible. Writing can be a powerful tool. A tool that you should have access to as well. And here's the good news! Grammar isn't rocket science. Never mind what they used to make you believe. Usually, just a few "tweaks" in your system can lead to a huge upgrade in your grammar ability. And there's more. Once you understand how the system works, you've got the key to using language as your tool. It's at your service. You no longer have to be stressed by sentences that refuse to do quite what you want them to do. You'll be in charge. So how do I know all this? I spent decades studying how language works -- and how to help others understand its anatomy -- and how to use it effectively As an English professor for almost two decades, I steadily evolved into some sort of grammar guru. That was quite a surprise to me, initially. I hadn't exactly planned that. But sometimes life takes you into interesting directions. From someone who turned up her nose at grammar I turned into someone who thought it was the coolest thing because it helped people get more out of their other language skills. I think of it as the "tech support" for writers. To be honest though -- I really got into it when I saw just how much of a difference it made. Every time someone said, "Wow, so that's how this works! Why didn't they explain it that way?" it just made my day! As I said, though, I didn't start out that way. When I grew up -- in Germany -- I was "enjoying" (or rather NOT enjoying) the same kind of grammar lessons you probably suffered through. Does the following feel familiar? It
seemed like one big game of trivial pursuit Every time you opened your mouth (if you even dared to open it), you were acutely aware of your short-comings. Each time your teacher gave you back a writing assignment, every mistake was diligently pointed out with big red marks. But if you were trying to understand what the heck you did wrong and how to fix it, you'd get answers that were less than helpful. They might as well have told you, "Because I said so!" It seemed like a game you could never win. I'll let you in on a little secret: The "rules" of grammar are more systematic than your teacher has led you to believe. In fact, chances are that your teacher simply had no idea how to explain how it worked. Meanwhile, it's years later, and you sometimes beat yourself up over not having paid more attention in class. Stop it! Why not do something a little more constructive instead? You Know It's Holding You Back at Work. Still, the thought of suffering the indignities of grammar class all over again has stopped you from doing something about it. Or maybe you have actually taken a class and the teacher was just as bad. Grammarnaire is Different! First of all, I understand exactly where you're coming from. I've learned grammar the very hard way myself. I had the same bad teachers in school that confused rather than helped me. So how come I'm teaching grammar now when I used to hate it too? Because I love the idea of having power over something that used to have power over me! Especially if it's something that's so eminently useful. Something happened on my journey from the German Black Forest to Berkeley, California (where I got my Ph.D.) to Richmond, Virginia... Yes, I didn't even grow up here! I started out as a bona fide ESL speaker. But you wouldn't know it if you read my writing -- people right here in the United States (and from around the world) pay me a lot of money to write their website copy, for example, and their articles.
So here's how it all started... When I was still a kid in Germany, I studied English because, well, because I had English classes in school. But I really got into it because I believed that it would allow me to travel internationally. As it turned out, I was right. It took me to England first, then Scotland and all over the UK. And then... I discovered linguists, people who study language because they're simply fascinated by the way it works. They also got to travel all over the world in pursuit of knowledge, or to go to conferences to share what they've learned. I wanted in on that. Best of all, the linguists and language gurus whose work I liked best all seemed to be in California, and I decided I wanted to study with them. So I did. I didn't study grammar though -- at first... But I didn't study grammar. I was adamant that I didn't want anything to do with it. They made me take some courses anyway, but I was determined to focus on how people actually used language. I was interested in language and society, cross-cultural communication, and how men and women used language, and what difference it made in their lives. I didn't think of that as grammar. Meanwhile, I started to get worried about getting a job, so I studied journalism as well -- I have always wanted to write -- and the next thing I knew, I was teaching remedial writing classes. And that was the first time I noticed that there was something I knew that not everybody else seemed to know. The way linguists looked at language was REALLY helpful with making effective writing make sense. And then I got a job as an English professor in Virginia, and my journey continued. More and more, I realized that generations of students suffered needlessly through grammar classes that drove them nuts yet only served to leave them self-conscious about their language skills. I wanted to change that. So I started teaching grammar MY way, and the results were amazing! I started teaching grammar my way, and the results were amazing. Students "got" it -- students who had been struggling for years. "Where were you, Dr. Kuhn, when I needed you?" One of my students wrote as feedback on my manuscript, "You make it seem so easy!" At
first I thought I'd write a book. In fact, I did.
But then I
decided to serve the book up as a course instead of as one big
manuscript so I could help along the way. Here's how it'll work: 1) A Lesson Each Week Each week, you'll get a lesson straight into your mailbox. Each lesson explains a concept and gives you homework. And if you follow along, you'll find that this grammar thing really does make sense. 2) Time Release Bonuses! There are also a few bonus options: First of all, there'll be some time-release bonuses. Every once in a while, I'll add a bonus lesson on common trouble spots and how to fix them -- complete with suggestions for how you can practice it. 3) Personalized Feedback! And after 3 months, you'll get to send me a piece of your writing and I'll give you personalized suggestions for how to improve -- with techniques specifically designed to give you the biggest bang for your buck. 4)
Based on the 80/20 Principle! Speaking of "biggest bang for your buck." The whole course is designed to get you off and running quickly -- helping you with the most common snafus first, and then helping you upgrade your skills more and more, until you feel like you really have control over grammar and writing -- instead of being at the mercy of it. 5) Easy Upgrade Options for MORE Personalized Help! If you want more personalized help, you'll also have the option to upgrade for a modest fee, and I'll be happy to answer any questions by email. You'll get a special secret email address and I'll answer up to one question a day from Monday through Thursday. They have to be questions related to the chapters you're currently working on. And then, there's the Deluxe Coaching Option, where you can ask ANY question you want, by email and in one or two monthly coaching sessions. One of them will be a group coaching session, and one of them will be a coaching day where you can schedule a 20 minute laser coaching session to talk with me one-on-one. So Let's Review the Details! Here's What You'll Get: A weekly lesson, somewhere between 3 to 7 pages, sometimes longer. Plus homework, which could either be some exploratory questions or actual exercises for practice. Bonus lessons about once a month. They'll put things in context and give you extra help. Individualized feedback on your writing as a time-release bonus after the third month, AND every three months, i.e., after six months, nine months, and at graduation, at 12 months. Plus you'll get another big surprise graduation gift after completing twelve months. But Wait! There's MORE! Think about WHY you want to learn better grammar! Because you want to (or need to) write, right? And write well! Well... many people who have trouble with grammar are also struggling with writer's block, and even if they do manage to write, their writing doesn't make them look too good. And it's not all about grammar either! And that's why I've added yet another bonus: Lessons on Writing! Once each month, you'll get a bonus lesson that will help you with your writing. How to get started, how to deal with writer's block, how to organize your writing, how to make it compelling, and lots more. And you know something? The stronger your grammar skills, the more control you'll have over how to make your writing strong as well. And no, it's not all about writing formally. Quite the opposite. So not to worry. I won't turn you into a stuffy writer at all. You'll get to keep your voice, but you'll find that it will be MUCH more powerful, and that YOU are completely in charge of what it does. So what do you think? Are you ready to give it a shot? Are you ready to leave all that embarrassment behind and become one of those people whose writing conveys authority? Do you want your writing to be effective and persuasive? Do you want your writing to rock? Take
my University Quality Course If so, just try my course. It's a university grade course -- only MUCH better because I'm packing the best information of several courses into this one course. And there won't be any grades, just feedback -- if you want it and get the upgrade. And you can do it from the comfort of your own home! Why You Should Stick with it! And once you get
started, you better stick with it. Of COURSE you can cancel at any
time. But when you do, and you decide to re-enrol, you'll have to start
all over again, from scratch! And you'll have wasted a lot of time. What Would You Prefer? A) Develop Grammar Mastery and Pump up Your Writing Skills, or... B) Continue to Be at the Mercy of the Grammar Police! So what's it going to be? You can muddle along like you have before, or you can take my course and once and for all beat the grammar cops at their own game. Isn't it time you developped confidence in your own language and writing abilities? Imagine what one single raise could mean for your lifetime earnings! The price of this course is peanuts in comparison! Here's My "Total Satisfaction Money-Back Guarantee" I want to make this offer totally risk free for you. If for any reason you're not totally satisfied with my Grammarnaire Course and you tell me so within 6 weeks of purchase, I will fully refund your money and you can even keep everything you have received until that point! Plus you can cancel at any time. That's how confident I am that this program absolutely WORKS!
Still reading? You know you can either try to muddle through your writing tasks the way you've always done it. I have a question though: How's that been working out for you? For most people with grammar issues, it's not working well at all. Let's be honest -- there are a lot of very judgmental people out there, and glaring grammar mistakes give them fodder to judge you. And it usually won't work out in your favor... I'm
sure you've heard Albert Einstein's famous definition of insanity: So why not try something different? Why not give something a chance that can literally transform the way you use language? Don't you think you deserve having confidence in your abllity to produce grammatical and well-formed pieces of writing -- of your choosing? You can continue with the way you're doing things, and you're going to continue to get the same results. Or you can plug into the system that has helped thousands of students gain greater confidence in their writing abilities. You can get involved with something that's going to change your life, that's going to grow your confidence -- and your ability to make a more positive impression in all areas of your life. How much time would you gain by having a system that allows you to write quickly and effectively -- at a moment's notice? And imagine what you could do with that extra time? You could spend it with your family, give to your community, and you could make a difference in your own life.
